Carey was a fashion model. She's 5'10" tall and was well-liked by famous American designers such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren as well as others. In 1979 in 1979, the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists voted her father Scientist of The Year. Her father was a geologist and traveled across the globe as part of his career. She started modeling part time while she was attending the University of Colorado and caught the eye of a rep for the Ford model Agency in New York. She briefly lived and studied in Paris after which she returned in New York. Her modeling as well as her college career took off and she was featured on the covers of Glamour's and Vogue's as well as many other covers of magazines. In between modeling assignments she was enrolled in the study of literature at New York University. While she was studying acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse, New York and began to become interested in the field grew. In 1986 she made her first appearance in acting with a minor part in "Club Paradise" with Robin Williams. Her hobbies include ski, white-water rafting windsurfing, and rock climbing.
